If you loved the historical fiction + fantasy aspect of My Lady Jane, I recommend these great books:

  • The Dark Days Club by Allison Goodman (On Goodreads) – Run, don’t walk, to buy this book. I have not fallen in love with a book like this in a long time. The Dark Days Club blends fantasy/paranormal elements in as well, and it’s extremely well-balanced.
  • Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman (On Goodreads) – Not only is the setting and story unique (the teen years of Alexander the Great), but the multiple POVs make this book outstanding.
  • Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers (On Goodreads) – The entire His Fair Assassin series is lovely and special. This is another historical fantasy-type book.
  • Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson (On Goodreads) – I would read anything by this author so this gold-scrying, Orgeon Trail-esque novel was right up my alley. SO GOOD.
  • The Falconer by Elizabeth May (On Goodreads) – This book has a killer setting and the characters to back it up: Scotland during the 1800s WITH the Fae. Yup, a must read.
  • Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier (On Goodreads) – I recommend any book by this author, but this YA historical fantasy set in the Transylvanian woods is a loose retelling of the 12 Dancing Sisters folktale. And, it’s pure magic.
